Shepherd's Pie

1 kg potatoes
approximately 3-4 potatoes
- 2 teaspoon butter
- 1 cup milk
- 500 gram minced lamb
- 1 each brown onion, chopped
- 3 each carrots, peeled, diced
- 1/2 cup frozen peas
- 1 cup celery, sliced
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 4 teaspoon flour
- 1 teaspoon Vegemite
- 3/2 cups water
Steps
- To make the mashed potato topping: Peel and dice the potatoes into 1-inch cubes.
- Cook in boiling, salted water until tender.
- Drain off water, and mash potatoes with a fork, mixing in 2 teaspoon of butter.
- Add salt to taste, then quickly mix in 1 cup of milk.
- Beat with a fork until fluffy.
- To make the filling: Cook lamb and onion in a saucepan in a little oil until browned.
- Mix in flour, salt, vegemite and vegetables.
- Then add water and simmer with lid on for about 45 minutes.
- Stir occasionally while cooking.
- Fill a greased casserole dish with the mince mixture.
- Cover with mashed potatoes, and dot with butter.
- Bake in the oven at 180C till potato crust is golden
